A walk to the White Chapel on Gellionen ..Leader Pat Mindt.

Our walk starts along the bank of the canal towards Trebanos.

A couple of our members have spotted something interesting in the water... a fish perhaps.

At Trebanos we stop for a quick coffee break ...

in a shady spot....

....before starting up the hill.

It is quite a steep climb to the top.

We have reached the Chapel after a walk across the top of Gellionen Mountain. Known locally as the White Chapel, it was first built in 1692 and was rebuilt in 1801.

A wall plaque tells us it was built as a place of worship for the use of a society of Protestant Dissenters.

As we looked around the outside of the chapel the Minister the Rev.Eirion Phillips arrived and not only was he kind enough to let us inside the Chapel...

but also give us brief history of the building and information about current services. Gellionen is the oldest nonconformist chapel in the area.
